a moment in my life short film

'A Moment In My Life' was my response to an animation brief of a childhood memory in 10 seconds. The boiling line and simplistic nature was all done on purpose to create a sense of nervous tension. Done using Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere, I tried to put everything I knew about storytelling and animation into it. A longer version was planned, but could not be completed due to time constraints. The storyboards and animatic for it will still be here.

Storyboards

These storyboards are for the longer version of the animation, which I initially planned to finish and then edit to fit the brief. Instead, I animated the scenes that would appear in the 10 second version, which also has different audio and speech (all recorded and ready to go).

These don't have what they SHOULD have (notions of SFX and speech) because I wanted to get started as soon as possible and lay my ideas down. I still didn't have enough time to finish, unfortunately, but I did make a full animatic of these scenes with the complete sfx.

Animatic

The longer animation has a completely different atmosphere on purpose. I wanted the 10 second version to feel like a trailer, and fill it with suspense. This version stays a bit more realistic in terms of how the event happens, and features more characters and voice lines (done by me, my father and my mother respectively). I hope to make this version eventually, but as of right now, with my A-Level exam upcoming and my final major project for 2021, I do not have the time to develop further (although gifs of scenes I DID complete will make an appearance on this page).

This one is unfinished, but I liked it.
